Mathematics Seminar (23/11/12)





On 23rd November 2012, Oxford University Press conducted a Mathematics seminar at Pearl Regency, Lakdikapul. The resource person was Mr. Jose Paul. He is the Ex-Director, Educational Planning Group, St. Xavier’s School, Delhi. Founder member and co-ordinator of this voluntary group, Mr. Jose Paul is dedicated to the improvement of the quality of teaching-learning process at the school level. Ms. Jaya and Ms. Jyoti from Orchids-The International School attended this workshop to enhance their teaching skills. They gained information on -
1. Love for the subject
2. Competence towards the subject
3. Methodology (activities, discovery)
4. Encouraging the students to help others.

They learnt some wonderful and easy to do activities which were eye-openers for the teachers and also learned to encourage and inculcate a habit of inquisitiveness and discovery within the child.

Field Trip to Car Museum (23/11/12)



A lesson based on cars was taught to the students. The students showed their creative skills when an activity based on cars were given. The interest, curiosity and the creativity of the students made us arrange a field trip to a car show.
On 23 November 2012 the students of class I &II were taken to ‘Sudha Car Museum’ located at Bahadurpura. As the students could see the cars of different shapes, sizes and colour, they were very happy.
They were able to differentiate between the colours, sizes and patterns.
The students showed enthusiasm, eagerness and inquisitiveness during the show.

Theme: Manipur - The Land of Jewels

The assembly presentation of class l was on the state ‘Manipur’. Out of the five days, the topic of the first day (19-11-12) was introduction of Manipur, its capital, surrounding states, language etc.

The topic for the second day (20-11-12) was the main sports of Manipur-hockey, football, rugby, martial arts, wrestling.

On the third day (21-11-12) we got to know about the traditional Manipuri costumes for women and men.

The main crops of Manipur-pulses, wheat and oil seeds such as mustard, groundnut, sunflower, groundnut and food ingredients such as ginger and turmeric; fruits such as papaya, orange, banana, plum, pineapple, lemon and vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, tomato, peas, carrot which was explained on the fourth day (22-11-12).

The topic for the fifth day (23-11-12) was on tourist places of Manipur which was explained through a PPT.

The children of class-I learnt and enjoyed a lot during their presentation of the thematic assembly.
