Eid Celebrations

Eid-ul-Fitr is the greatest occasion for Muslims to celebrate.

Eid-ul-Fitr 2014 was celebrated at Orchids The International School, on the  July 28, 2014 with great fun and enthusiasm. The students of Pre-Primary Section, Primary Section, and the Middle School Section participated actively in various programs to spread the message of love and friendship among Orchidians. Greetings were shared among the students and the teachers and the show was fantabulous.

Van Mahotsav Celebrations

Van Mahotsav or the ‘Festival of planting trees’ was celebrated at Orchids on 25/7/2014. There was a short cultural programme presented by the students. Skits and songs relevant to the theme of forestation and the need to appreciate and conserve the existing gifts of Mother Nature were presented.  Students also came up with slogans related to the planting of trees.   At the end of the cultural programme each class along with their class teacher and Principal planted a sapling which they brought in the school campus. Students participated with full gaiety and enthusiasm.

La fête nationale française

Orchids – The International School, Hyderabad wore a festive look for Bastille Day, ‘La fête nationale française’ on 14.7.14. French songs, huge pictures of French monuments and the three colours in many forms warmly welcomed the students to school in a mood of celebration. The students studying French as the second and the third language, of all the classes, participated with a lot of enthusiasm. The programme began with a PowerPoint presentation by the tenth class students.  Shanmuga Priya D. and Agradoot M. explained the depiction of the first storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789, all that France is famous for and how the National Day is celebrated in France. The presentation was followed by a depiction of French Revolution.
The two French songs sung by the students of classes of I and II, VII and VIII melodiously attracted the audience. Class IX had another PowerPoint presentation to inform the spectators of all that France is famous for.  ‘Les Repas’ highlighted the French cuisine.
Jacques Prévert, a renowned poet who is very popular in the schools of France, was introduced to the audience briefly, with his pictures shown on the screen. His poem ‘Le Cancre’ and its translation were read by Maurya Sappa and Shubhasree B. of the tenth. ‘Le Cancre’ was sung by the students of the two senior classes, IX and X and they were accompanied by Shubhasree on the guitar and Mr.Salmon Raj, music teacher on the keyboard.  
The special programme ended with the Indian National Anthem followed by ‘La Marseillaise’. Principal Mr. C. Srikanth had a word of appreciation for the participants and the three French teachers of the school- Ms. G. Savithri Devi, Ms. C. Lakshmi and Ms. Sri Vani.
 ‘The French National Day’ celebration remains one of the memorable events organized in Orchids.


INVESTITURE CEREMONY

Prefects’ Council election was organized in Orchids-The International School on 27.6.14 in a truly democratic spirit. For more than a week the contestants for the appointments of Head Girl, Head Boy and House Captains for the four Houses of the school gave election speeches in the morning assembly to impress the voters. Their speeches were effective, promising and assertive. Their supporters canvassed for them in earnest and it was very difficult to guess the winners. Ballot boxes, ballot papers and eager voters made an eventful day. Votes were counted on the same day and the results were announced on 30.6.14.  
 Both Senior and Junior wings have their Head Boy and Head Girl. Besides, the four Houses have their House Captain and Vice-Captain to lead their Houses both at Senior and Junior levels. The nominated posts of Sports Captain and Discipline Captain focus on their areas.
The eventful day of the Investiture Ceremony was organized on 12.7.14. Principal, Mr. C. Srikanth extended a formal welcome to the gathering introducing the Chief Guest Mr. V. Sreenivasa Rao, Inspector of Police, Madhapur. The school choir sang the School Song asserting their pride to be Orchidians.
The Chief Guest conferred Appointments on the young leaders by bestowing on them emblems of leadership. The elected prefects were invested with their posts formally to lead the events of the academic year. In his speech the Chief Guest enumerated leadership qualities and advised the Prefects’ Council to bring out the best in their teams while learning to lead.
The tenth class teachers who taught the last year batch were sent certificates of appreciation by the HRD Ministry, the Govt. of India. It was a memorable moment when the teachers received the certificates from the Chief Guest.

The day of the Investiture Ceremony 2014 remains significant and encouraging.

Field Trip To Car Museum

On 4th of July (2014) students of class I and II went on a field trip  to Sudha Cars Museum. It is the first and only handmade Wacky Car museum in the World. It is the brainchild of Mr. K. Sudhakar, a Guinness World Record Holder for making the Largest Tricycle in the World.
Mr. Sudhakar, got hooked on to this hobby right from his school days. At the age of 14 he first designed a bicycle and the very next year at the age of 15 he made his first "Easy Rider Motorbike". Students were excited to see different types of cars for example lipstick car, laddu car, pencil car, bed car and many more cars.
