Word Building Competition (20/4/2012)

Word-building is the process of constructing an imaginary world. It is a key to reading, writing and verbal expressions. It also helps in improving analytical and critical thinking. A student’s vocabulary skills can be measured in terms of building receptive vocabulary words (i.e. understanding) and their expressive vocabulary words. Building vocabulary skills improves reading comprehension and reading fluency.
In order to develop more reading and thinking skills in our students, Word-building competition was conducted on 20th April, 2012 for primary wing (classes 1-5). All the students participated with great enthusiasm and they were able to write many words from one single word. This even helped the students to develop their writing skill and imaginative skill…and most of them enjoyed the word-building competition.
